St James' Lodge No 6852

Welcome

Thanks for visiting our website which is designed to provide a little information about our Lodge, the things we do and hopefully inspire an interest in Freemasonry.

We are located in the leafy village of Christleton, Chester and meet at our purpose built lodge located at Cheshire View. Details of how to get to Cheshire View and the facilities it offers can be accessed from this page.

You will find here some background on how the Lodge was formed, when we meet and information on how you might get involved.

We have an active programme of social events to complement our masonic activities and we are always happy to meet people who have an interest in what we do.

Brief History

St James’ Lodge No 6852 was formed under the sponsorship of Caerlleon Lodge No 4394 on the 11th May 1949. One of the original founders of the lodge was Rev Alyn Arthur Guest-Williams, the Rector of Christleton, and it was from his church, St James’ that the lodge gained its name.

The original founders of the lodge all had a connection with the village of Christleton and the local Chester area. Meetings were held from the outset in the Masonic Hall at Hunter Street, Chester. Following the sale of Hunter Street in 1995, we moved to Cheshire View in Christleton with our first meeting on the 22nd September 1995.

On 27th September 2024 we held our 75th Anniversary Celebration with members and guests making a grand occasion marked by the presence of the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W. Bro Christopher Renshaw PSGD of the Province of Cheshire.

We hope you find your visit to our website informative and look forward to hearing from you if you are inspired to get in touch using the links provided.
